2014 Highlights

glenwaverleyart

So 2014 is coming to a close! We're ready to welcome the New Year with lots of misbehaviour and fireworks. But before we do, here is a summarised brag of all the cool shit we did in 2014!

Some context:

This time last year I was working full time at a wine bar. I was really bad at it, because I know nothing about wine. "Why, can't you sense the subtle undertones of camel armpit and freshly cut coriander, dear sir?" At the same time, Chuck was working at night putting stickers on trains. Yes indeed, a graffiti writer working on a train yard. The department that does background checks for PTV is certainly not familiar with Google.

When we moved in together to our little studio in Richmond, we didn't have much money, but we still decided to quit the whole job thing and just dedicate ourselves completely to what we loved doing.

Below are just a few of the best experiences we had this year!

We painted over 50 walls for businesses in Australia, Brazil & Vietnam.

These included pubs, restaurants, gyms, schools and even some private courtyards, We ended up with so much spray paint left over we can barely fit it in our studio.

We also got to make walls  without actually painting them: our selected design for Vic Tracks at Glen Waverley Train Station was designed in Illustrator and installed by a sign company.

We painted live at lots of interesting events

We started doing live painting at corporate events this year, and it became our favourite type of job! Beautiful art in a beautiful environment, dressing up and getting compliments all night! During those events, we ended up...

We (hopefully) inspired lots of kids through our workshops!

Chuck ran 6 workshops this year. Some were for private customers, some for a foster home, and even one for an International School in Vietnam. They were all full of lovely kids, and we hope we contributed to opening up new horizons for them somehow!

2015 is looking great already

Some of the things we've got planned for next year:

  • More art exhibitions & events: we are breaching beautifully into the gallery realm with two exhibitions booked in the first half of the year.
  • More travelling: we will be painting more overseas. Not sure where yet, but we'll find our way into some distant shores.
  • More green: we want to zero our carbon footprint in 2015, and seriously reduce our enterprise's environmental impact. We're doing our homework right now, and will be sharing our efforts with you soon.
Our first exhibition planned for 2015. Save the date and treat yourself to some splendour.

All thanks to you!

Massive thank you to all our supportive friends, family, clients and partners, specially to Graffiti MuralsRaw CompanyAll Those Shapes & Heavy Weather Skate Co. We wouldn't have had the wonderful year we had without you. We hope we've exceeded your expectations, and will continue to do so in the coming years.

2015: Bring it on, bitch!
